ARCADIA, Calif. (November 2, 2020) – The Edwin J. Gregson Foundation announces the addition to its board of Jay Privman, acclaimed national correspondent for the Daily Racing Form. Privman, based in Southern California, covers that circuit, as well as major national events like the Breeders’ Cup and Triple Crown. He is the author of the books “Breeders’ Cup: Thoroughbred Racing’s Championship Day” and “Del Mar at 75,” and has won numerous writing honors for coverage of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont, and Breeders’ Cup. He also has done television work for NBC Sports Network and ESPN, among many other industry endeavors.
“We’re delighted that Jay has accepted a seat on our Board,” says Foundation President Jenine Sahadi. “He has been a steadfast contributor to the Foundation throughout the years, including serving as emcee for our successful fundraising dinner last year honoring Hall of Fame Jockey Victor Espinoza. We’re eager for him to share with us his talent, putting him to work on various projects that will benefit our very worthy backstretch families and their children.”
Privman says, “The first Derby I covered, in 1982, was won by Eddie Gregson with Gato Del Sol. I thought highly of Eddie, and the Gregson Foundation has lived up to the ideals he espoused. They have helped so many deserving backstretch families enhance their lives in a truly meaningful way, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
